Feature Request: Section-Level Layout and Style Controls for BOE Proposals
Summary:
Enable users to define and lock layout and style settings—such as margins, page orientation, and fonts—at the section level within BOE proposals. These settings should be stored as properties of each section so that proposal formatting is consistent, predictable, and easy to manage across documents.
Problem Statement:
Today, formatting for BOE proposals is difficult to control consistently across sections. Users must manually adjust margins, orientation, and fonts for each section or rely on global settings that may not fit all content types (e.g., tables vs. narrative text). This leads to inconsistent presentation, extra rework when sections are reused, and a higher risk of formatting errors in customer-facing documents.
Proposed Solution:
Allow each BOE section to have configurable properties for:
Page margins (top, bottom, left, right)
Page orientation (portrait/landscape)
Font family, size, and basic text styles
These properties should:
Be defined and saved at the section level, not just globally
Optionally “lock” formatting so that ad-hoc edits do not override section defaults
Apply automatically when a section is inserted, reordered, or reused in another proposal
Provide a clear UI in section properties where users can view, edit, and reset styles to a template default
Benefits:
Ensures consistent, professional formatting across all proposal sections.
Reduces manual formatting effort and rework when composing or updating BOE documents.
Lowers the risk of formatting errors in customer deliverables.
Makes it easier to reuse sections across proposals while preserving intended layout and style.
