Feature Request: Customizable Summary Information Per Tab
Summary:
Allow users to configure which summary fields and metrics are displayed in each tab, so they can tailor the visible information to their specific workflows and priorities without affecting other tabs or users.
Problem Statement:
Currently, the summary information shown in different tabs is fixed or globally configured, limiting users’ ability to see the most relevant data for their role or task. This often results in cluttered views with unnecessary fields or, conversely, important information being buried or missing. Users must repeatedly switch tabs, open details, or run separate reports just to access the summary data they care about, which is inefficient and error-prone.
Proposed Solution:
Enable per-tab configuration of summary information, allowing users to choose which fields and metrics appear in each tab’s header or summary section.
Provide an intuitive configuration UI where users can:
Add, remove, and reorder summary fields.
Select from a catalog of standard and custom fields (e.g., status, owner, dates, key metrics).
Save configurations on a per-tab basis (e.g., Overview, Details, Analytics), with the option to reset to a default layout.
Support different visibility scopes, such as personal (per-user) configurations and workspace-level defaults managed by admins.
Ensure that changes to tab summary settings do not affect underlying data, only presentation.
Maintain responsive layouts so customized summaries render cleanly on different screen sizes.
Benefits:
Reduces noise and cognitive load by showing only the most relevant summary information per tab.
Improves efficiency by minimizing the need to drill into records or open external reports for key data.
Supports diverse user roles and workflows through personalized summary configurations.
Enhances overall usability and adoption by giving teams control over how information is presented.
Provides administrators with a way to define sensible defaults while still allowing individual customization.
